I like the courtyard of “Shimonoseki Nanbucho Post Office”. I also run a coffee shop, so it’s even better.
The garden of this post office…
That’s Shimonoseki. There are many modern buildings. Among them, the courtyard of the café on the first floor of the “Shimonoseki Nanbu-cho Post Office”, I like this space.
When I went this time, it was closed and I couldn’t get in, but I was able to get in last time. It’s a stylish space. The building itself is a well-known tangible cultural property. You can see it, but the signboard is the post office. It’s a fancy post office.
Originally built as the Akamagaseki Post and Telegraph Office, it was built in 1900. I heard that it is the oldest post office building in Japan.
I understand that it’s a retro modern architecture, but is it such a Meiji building? “It doesn’t look that old, but…”
To put it bluntly, the neighborhood of Karato Market
In this area, there is Karato Market, and you can go to that “Ganryujima” by ferry in the market area. That’s right, Miyamoto Musashi. This is the island where the duel between Kojiro and Musashi took place.
I have been to Ganryujima before, and there are statues of Musashi and Kojiro, and he told me that it is a very historical island.
I quite like the sea, but more than that, I remember that the water in the sea is very clean…
As for the later story, the theory that Musashi’s strength is a bit ambiguous is that even in the Battle of Ganryujima, Musashi had about 10 of his subordinates hide in the bushes before Kojiro arrived. But when it comes to the game, if he likes it, all his subordinates will go out and beat him up…
There are quite a few anecdotes like that, but in Musashi’s case, there is a theory that he had the image of being cunning, rather than a strategy.
I was surprised by this, but I think he should be cautious because he is in the age of the Warring States, and if he does not do well, he will soon be in the other world.
The area has a lot of modern architecture.
It’s a city with wonderful buildings from the Meiji period, right from the modern era, in such a historical area.
It’s a little small for a retro district, but it’s a recommended neighborhood.
