Yamada Catholic Church is located on Ikitsuki Island. Like a hidden Christian, he can’t be found in a place like this in the countryside.
“Catholic Yamada Church” on Ikitsuki Island
From Hirado Island, I crossed the bridge again and went to the “Catholic Yamada Church” on Ikitsuki Island. The bridge from Hirado to this island is blue and very beautiful. He can also see the ocean, so maybe that’s why he looks so pretty. The scenery is great, so as soon as you enter Ikitsuki Island, he has the Yamada Catholic Church. He is even more pleased that there is such a cool Western-style building in a region where the scenery is really beautiful and where there is an abundance of nature. When you look at the sea with a bow, it’s a really beautiful scenery and it’s really good!
Completed in 1912
It seems that the people who were baptized into Catholicism by Father Albert Peru who came to Hirado in 1878 are the ancestors of the members of Yamada Church. It seems that this church was completed in the first year of the Taisho era, so it feels like a fairly new church. However, it seems that there are many old hidden Christians on this small island, and I feel like that’s a good thing…
Really, it’s in the great countryside.
After all, at that time, or rather during the time when I was persecuted, I might not have been able to find it unless I was in a rural area like this, or on a remote island, but for the time being, it might have been useless unless I was in a very rural area where an unpopular official wouldn’t come… ・. This island is also an island at the edge of Nagasaki, crossing the sea about three islands, and it seems unlikely that officials will ever come here. Wild boars, etc. Also, I think it’s a region where there were quite a few, so there were a lot of big insects, and it’s a bit unimaginable. In such a place, this “Romanesque” mansion is now wonderful…
