I went to the castle-like Kore-eda Clinic in Nakamozu, Sakai City, Osaka.
There is a Western-style building that stands out too much in Nakamozu in Sakai.
In Sakai City, Osaka, there is a retro-chic and cute building that looks like a castle. Isn’t it a little too conspicuous? It’s a residential area and not a tourist spot, so there’s nowhere to park your car to see it. In Sakai City, there is a place named Nakamozu or Mozu, and I think it is a well-known place because it is quite different, but there is a central ringway in Sakai, and it is the trunk line around Emperor Nintoku’s mausoleum. If you head towards Habikino from there, you’ll see a place named Mozu, and if you turn left, you’ll find it in the residential area.
A wooden building built by a patient.
It was built in 1931 by Chikayu Kore-eda as his home and clinic. At the time of construction, this area was supposed to be a castle standing on the shore of a lake. Also, although it looks like a Western-style building from the outside, it seems to be a wooden building, and he is said to have been constructed by a patient of this clinic.

I’d like to go inside…
It’s Mozu, so it’s easy to get to, and I think it’s nice to see it, but in the future I’d definitely like to see the inside too. I’m very curious about the interior lights and doors.
A designated building in the future? Is it a fancy restaurant?
I have a feeling that if we continue like this, it will probably become a designated building by the city or prefecture, but if you go to Hakodate, everything from small to large buildings will be protected as a designated building, but there is also a little bit of history about how it was built. Since it has been designated for some time, what about “Kore-eda Clinic”? Large buildings are expensive to maintain, and there are many things that I want to donate instead of taxes. But is it possible for a big restaurant chain to do something like a restaurant? That’s too much care…
