The Hatoyama Kaikan was opened to the public as a memorial hall. It is also known as Otowa Goten because it is located in Otowa, Bunkyo Ward. The Liberal Party (currently the Liberal Democratic Party) was established by the great merger of the Democratic Liberal Party and the Democratic Party, and Hatoyama’s residence was often used as a meeting place to discuss the establishment of the Liberal Party and its policies. After that, the mansion was remarkably deteriorated, but in 1995, a large-scale restoration work was carried out, and the mansion was regenerated. It was opened to the public as a memorial hall where you can see the Hatoyama family’s favorite items and souvenirs.
